Does an intelligent theist exist?
I trawl the ‘net researching and often just plain exploring.
I often wish there was an educated theist to be found that can postulate a convincing argument in support of his or her beliefs - if only to challenge the free-thinkers a little.
I never really expect to ever find any, but well, it’s worth continuing the quest!
On the other side of the coin there’s thousands like this chap’s website. His ‘Top Evidences Against the Theory of Evolution‘ would be good for a laugh if it wasn’t just so pathetic. The worrying thing is that millions of americans actually agree with him…
I spent a depressing half-hour wading through his diatribes on everything from his obvious homo-phobia and his rants about other religions and his belief that ‘No genuine born-again, Bible-believing, Jesus-loving Christian believes the nonsense of Evolution. It’s the Devil’s crowd–the whoremongers, warmongers, atheists, and Communists–who adhere to the lies of Evolution.’
Well, according to him I and millions of others who share similar beliefs are all headin’ for the fires of hell. If heaven means having to listen to friggin idiots like him then great… I’m hell-bound.

I just ignore them now. Used to get me riled, but I figure whats the point? There will always be folk like these in the world. Reacting to them only gives them credence.
While I disagree with “the chap’s” use of strong language (Devil’s crowd–the whoremongers, warmongers, atheists, and Communists–who adhere to the lies of Evolution.’), and when he said “You show me a person who believes in Evolution and I’ll show you a person who’s living a sinful life,” since I do not believe in Evolution and yet would not dare claim to lead a completely sin-free life
I cannot but ask you, do call him pathetic because he makes sense? Do you consider his arguments unintelligent? I really want to know. What is your objection to his site … besides the fact that it disagrees with your world view.
And since I an assuming you are intellectually honest and would therefore be interested in understanding what we on the other side of the camp believe in about Heaven, I would like to inform you that heaven is NOT, an eternity long of “having to listen to friggin idiots like him”, it is a timeless experience of being re-united with God and having our fellowship with God restored.
BUT
If you prefer to be hell-bound, God loves you enough to allow you to practice the freedom (free-will) He has given you… he won’t force you to love Him in return.
“the Irresistible and the Indisputable are the two weapons that the very nature of God’s scheme forbids Him to use. Merely to over-ride a human will (as His felt presence in any but the faintest and most mitigated degree would certainly do) would be for Him useless. HE CANNOT RAVISH, HE CAN ONLY WOO”
-C.S Lewis
Incase you’re interested, here are some sites I am exploring
http://www.godandscience.org
http://www.answersingenesis.org
The first part of your comments don’t warrant a comment from me - I understand that you are of a similar opinion and I (or anyone else) won’t change your viewpoint by any reasoning.
I do however find your comments that ‘heaven is NOT, and eternity… etc’ very interesting though - how exactly can you make a statement like this? You know this to be true because you talk to god I suppose. Or you read it in the bible so it must be true? Either way, you don’t know - you believe it to be so.
Answersingenesis is always good for a chuckle though - Ken Ham is an embarrassment to christian scientists (by that I mean scientists who are also christian) the world over. The best thing he ever did was leave Australia.
C.S. Lewis was an ‘old earth creationist’ actually who would have strongly disagreed with Ken Ham - have a look at this site: http://www.answersincreation.org/
Look, if you choose to believe that the earth is only 6000 years old and that all the thousands upon thousands of scientists around the world in complete agreement that it is actually in the order of around 4.5 billion years, are wrong. Fine.
As I’ve said in many posts here - show me the evidence. Don’t spend your whole time trying (unsuccessfully) to tear down the theories of others - come up with your own theory. The problem is - creationists don’t have one. Just the one book. That’s it in a nutshell.
