Honestly, I have had it with this current host I’m with. I’d tell you about them, but I won’t take the risk just yet.
I’d actually expect that the chap (I believe it’s a one-man-band) would be as likely to ‘accidentally’ delete my sites!
I’ll just say this – if you are considering cheap web-hosting,
AVOID THEM LIKE THE BLOODY PLAGUE!
My experience has been that I would have wasted hours and hours of time and energy creating sites only to have them become corrupted – usually for the same reason: lack of space on the shared hosting.
If they aren’t corrupted, then page loading times become longer and longer until the sites become unusable (of course, this usually happens when you are in the middle of updating them…) or the whole bloody site goes down. I then check the hosting company’s own site and – surprise, surprise – it too, is down. Wait an hour or so and up they come again. And the cycle repeats.
Then I’ve wasted more hours (and they are always stressful, especially when you are hosting customers sites on the same host) writing emails or posting ‘trouble-tickets’ that are never answered. This outfit doesn’t have a contact number to ring (of course!).
Please do as I will do as soon as funds allow - bite the bullet and choose a quality hosting company. One that comes recommended and has been around for at least 5 years. Expect to pay A$20-$30 a month for this. Any less and you can only expect disaster.
I’ve learnt my lesson! The full story will be revealed in a few month’s time…
