I’m still amazed that daffy mediums like Lisa Williams can be interviewed on TV (by Sunrise in this case) and no one ever asks the question ‘but how do we know that you’re not just making this all up?’.
Why doesn’t Kochy (who I respect as a knowledgeable, honest kind of guy) - after hearing her say ‘oh when I talked with Lady Diana and Marilyn Monroe…’ (isn’t it funny how the famous always consent to interviews they’d never have given in real life?) - just say to her ‘come on Lisa, I don’t believe in ghosts or spirits and I am supposed to just accept what you are telling me happened?’
The most promising part in the interview could have been when Kochy’s offsider Mal, asked her, possibly not innocently, ’so, what is the other side like?’. The response was exactly what you’d expect - ‘oh, you know, I’ve never asked that…’. Come on, you’re telling me that you speak to people who have died and you never thought to ask the question everyone on earth wants to know?. Sigh. What do you take us for?
It’s as if, for some reason, interviewers treat these people with the same reverence they treat pastors or rabbis or other religious spokespeople. Not that I think they deserve it anyway…
I mean, where do you draw the line - do they have to listen reverently and nod their heads sagely while some nutjob relates how she can talk to animals or how another loony says he took a ride in an alien craft and had every orifice probed?
Are we so politically correct now that we can’t put these people under the spotlight and say to them ‘ok, you are making amazing claims here - do you actually have any real proof of what you are trying to get us to believe?”
Superstition, tarot cards, palm readers, healers, voodoo, numerology, spirits, demons, ghosts, gods, devils, astrology - it’s all the same. Nonsense. Silly, childish nonsense that should, by now, have been left firmly in the ignorance of the dark ages, but no, it persists and is believed by the gullible with absolutely NO PROOF WHATSOEVER!
Money. That’s what this whole shebang is all about. There’s a sucker born every minute and it’s a no-brainer to pretend you have a talent and convince someone who really WANTS TO BELIEVE that you have a message from their recently departed love one.
Just don’t grant them the interviews, don’t buy their DVDs, don’t visit their websites and don’t pay to be lied to by them. Just ignore them - they might all go away. One day.
If you are interested in how cold reading (which is the technique mediums use) works - pop over to YouTube and simply search for ‘Derren Brown Mediums’.

It is totally up to you what you believe in and what you don’t. I for one, love Lisa Williams. She is pure, honest and such a lovinga beautiful person. You attacked all mediums for saying they do it all for money. But, i see you forgot to mention that all the show’s Lisa is doing in Australia, the money paid for the tickets etc, are all being doated to those affected by the bushfires. Maybe you should’ve reasearched that fact?
Well ANON, you obviously are a big fan of hers.
Where exactly did you see that her show fees are “all being doated to those affected by the bushfires”? My “reasearch” has failed to turn up any info that confirms that - maybe she mentioned it during the TV interview that I couldn’t stomach to continue watching until the end - or not.
I could be wrong, but the whole reverence thing could be that they think if they attack mediums, astrologers and all the other charlatans then they will also have to attack all religious leaders. After all they are all based on no proof whatsoever. And religion, for some unknown reason, seems to be completely off limits to criticism.
Lisa’s tickets are for sale on ticketek and there is NO mention of donation to bushfire appeal, unlike the WHO’ page which does mention their donation.
However her blog mentions that she plans to donate her fee:
Note she says “her Fee”, not ticket sales or profits.
(still, a nice gesture)
PS. I think its funny that she’s appearing at the Comedy Theatre in VIC. (irony in there somewhere?)
