I first heard about this on Freethought Radio and couldn’t believe it - but sure enough a quick Google found that it’s sad but true.
Two women serve in Israel’s new Cabinet, but some Israelis would rather not see them. Newspapers aimed at ultra-Orthodox Jewish readers tampered with the inaugural photograph of the Cabinet, erasing ministers Limor Livnat and Sofa Landver.
The daily Yated Neeman digitally changed the photo, moving two male ministers into the places formerly occupied by the women. The weekly Shaa Tova simply blacked the women out, in a photo reprinted Friday by the mainstream daily Maariv.
Ultra-Orthodox newspapers consider it immodest to print images of women to prevent impure thoughts in the minds of the readers. Hmm. Ok, I can see that - two fully clothed, intelligent women politicians. Sure, that will get my pecker up - no worries! Come on - this is just ridiculous, uncivilised, barbaric and pathetic behaviour by misogynist men who should have some psychotherapy.
Apparently, this madness is not just about powerful women - it’s all females in general as this site illustrates.
Sure, women drive me mad at times - heck, I’m married - but funnily enough, they are actually important and equal members of the human species. These religious male nutjobs (and apparently some female ones even agree with them - at least publicly) want civilisation to go back several centuries. The especially mad ones with nuclear capabilities and the urge to use them against the infidels forget that radiation was dicovered by a woman named Marie Curie. The number of women who have drastically influenced and shaped the modern world apparently don’t exist, or if they do they can’t be depicted or given the recognition or importance that they are due.
When will men ever grow up?
