I often read - and get comments here - of the kind, “how can you possibly believe that life came about purely by chance?”. Well, the answer is simple, I don’t. This is a ‘popular’ misconception of evolution and natural selection that even a brief study (which, unfortunately the majority of evolution debunkers refuse to do) of the science would reveal.

The latest blokeinadress has provoked a furious response from Aids campaigners on the first day of his visit to Africa when he declared that distributing condoms only ‘aggravates’ the problems inflicted by the condition.
Speaking as he flew from Rome to Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon, the Pope insisted that the way to confront the condition was through sexual monogamy. Aids, he said, “is a tragedy that cannot be overcome by money alone, and that cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems”.

I’m still amazed that daffy mediums like Lisa Williams can be interviewed on TV (by Sunrise in this case) and no one ever asks the question ‘but how do we know that you’re not just making this all up?’.
Why doesn’t Kochy (who I respect as a knowledgeable, honest kind of guy) - after hearing her say ‘oh when I talked with Lady Diana and Marilyn Monroe…’ (isn’t it funny how the famous always consent to interviews they’d never have given in real life?) - just say to her ‘come on Lisa, I don’t believe in ghosts or spirits and I am supposed to just accept what you are telling me happened?’

If you wanted a more telling argument against religion you’d be hard pressed to find one than this.
From this Sydney Morning Herald article :
“A nine-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, has undergone an abortion despite complaints from Brazil’s Roman Catholic Church.
Police said the stepfather has been jailed since last week.

I had to laugh when I saw the news this week that the Welsh town that banned the classic Monty Python movie Life of Brian 30 years ago has decided to screen it later this month. It is believed that the 1979 comedy, which critics said was blasphemous for telling the story of a Jewish man who is mistaken for Jesus and crucified, was banned by a committee of church leaders in the town.
The Life of Brian is now viewed as a classic and includes wonderful lines such as Brian’s mother’s line “He’s not the messiah - he’s a very naughty boy.”
