Yes, We CAN!

Published by admin under news, personal musings, video

What a wonderful, inspiring speech from Barrack Obama. I thought for an excited  moment that he was going to include atheists in his list of marginalised people. Gays, Afro-Americans, Hispanics were all mentioned and I was hanging out for the ‘A’ word - but no.

We here in Australia have been watching the campaign progress with interest. Most here couldn’t believe it when ‘G.W’ somehow made it back into office (and I guess many americans feel the same way) and it was becoming obvious that the republicans had their chance but had blown it - not just with their economy but the ‘head in the sand’ approach to global warming was very, very disturbing.

Spiritualists, Ghost Whisperers and the like…

I give christians a hard time on this blog and most deserve it - especially those two idiots that disturbed last Saturday’s peaceful morning working in the garden.  They were Mormons of course (or believers in the ‘prophet Moroni’ - didn’t the twit that invented this cult  think before creating that name?). I was so proud of my wife when she wrenched open the door and firmly told them that we were atheists and there wasn’t much point them continuing with the conversation that they wanted to strike up.

Its Friday! We need a laugh. Oct 10

I remember well early morning TV over in NZ with the ‘give to the lord’ evangelicals. We had Benny the Hair of course, Robert Schuller’s Hour of Power and Joyce Meyer (who was the only one who had a reasonable sense of humour - but she still spouted crap). We had them not just on Sundays - every weekday morning before 7am kiwis had to endure this nonsense and probably still do.

God moves money in mysterious ways

Published by admin under churches & cults

I’ve written before about the charlatan Benny Hinn. Seems his ability to fool the gullible is as strong as ever. Excerpt from an article on the Freethinker:

“EXPERTS in South Arica are claiming that a genuine miracle took place at a massive evangelical rally staged by American “prosperity” preacher Benny Hinn, who is touring the country with his “Miracle Crusade”.

The genuine, verifiable event – attributed to “the power of the Almighty” – occurred when thousands of pounds miraculously left the bank accounts of around 1,000 of devout Christians, and within minutes inexplicably surfaced in Hinn’s sizeable off-shore bank accounts.

The Benny Hinn Story

Published by admin under churches & cults, comedy, video

I remember watching the ‘Sunday crazies’ on New Zealand telly in the late nineties and presumably they are still on. Benny ‘the hair’ was my favourite and could always be relied on for a good laugh.

I wondered how the ratbag was doing and a Google search for him turned up thousands of sites and pages - and in nearly every one his name was associated with the word ‘fraud’.

Here’s part one of an excellent ‘Fifth Estate’ documentary about him. All 5 parts are available in the related videos box at the YouTube page here.
